YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. Armenian and Belarus forest experts will plant a friendship forest in Armenia in 2018, Belarusian Belta news agency said citing the Belarusian Forestry Ministry. It said a relevant agreement was reached during the 13th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Armenian commission on trade and economic cooperation in Minsk.
The site of the forest will be chosen during a visit of the Belarusian delegation to Armenia in late October.
“Belarus is ready to provide its planting stock free of charge and provide any necessary technological assistance,” stressed Belarus' Forestry Minister Mikhail Amelyanovich.
Armenia's Agriculture Minister Ignatiy Arakelyan noted for his part that Armenia is interested in Belarus' technological capacities.
“If for Belarus forestry is of economic importance, for us it is of environmental significance. It is the issue of preserving forests. We would also like to launch projects on the production of pellets and other materials to provide heat to our villages,” he was quoted as saying by Belta.
