Certain categories of Armenia’s population will have 50% of their utility bills paid by the government, Mher Grigoryan, Armenian vice-premier, said Monday at an extraordinary session of the government. This is the 11th measure taken by the government amid the COVID 19 outbreak.

According to him, the beneficiaries of the program will be all those subscribers who in February consumed gas worth up to 10,000 drams, and electricity - up to 5,000 drams. "We compensate 50% of their costs, regardless of debts, but only for those subscribers who have used gas and electricity less than this indicator," Grigoryan said
He said that the transfer will be carried out directly to companies providing utility services to the account of subscribers. “Therefore, who has the debt - it will be reduced by such an amount, and who does not have it - the funds will be deposited to the account as an advance payment for the next month,” Grigoryan said.
He stressed that the procedures will be carried out promptly - the government will address to the Public Services Regulatory Commission, which will clarify the lists with utility companies in a couple of days and payments will be made.
In total, the Armenian government approved 11 programs to counteract the economic consequences of coronavirus (taking into account today's N11.) Of them, six relate to economic assistance to business (agriculture, tourism, SMEs, micro-business and other industries), and the rest provide social support to various groups of the population.
