YEREVAN, Oct. 13. /ARKA/. The Armenian government considered today a draft decision that calls for providing bonuses to certified contract servicemen.

Introducing the draft decision at a Cabinet session, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said the decision is meant to raise the interest in contract military service. He said bonuses will be paid to servicemen that will pas successfully a certification exam.

The current military personnel can participate in the certification on a voluntary basis, while those concluding a new contract must pass the certification no earlier than three months after taking the job.

Those who will fail the exam will be able to try again, but no more than twice within a year.

The draft decision notes that servicemen who already receive allowances must be re-certified every three years to continue receiving bonuses.

In his turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the wages of certified contract servicemen will actually double. He said this decision is the first step towards building a professional army. -0--
