Chickenpox vaccinations launched in Armenia - Health Ministry

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. Chickenpox vaccinations was launched in Armenia on January 31, Zaruhi Grigoryan, Deputy Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Health Ministry said.
“Guided by the opinions of experts, as well as following the positive experience of a number of countries, Armenia has also decided to introduce chickenpox vaccinations into the vaccination calendar. This will allow us to control another disease,” Grigoryan said at a press conference on Monday.
According to her, it was decided to carry out the vaccinations in stages - at the first stage involves children born after November 1, 2023 (up to 12 months of age).
“Next, pre-conscription age persons and demobilized soldiers will be vaccinated. The vaccine has already been distributed and is available in all primary health care institutions,” Grigoryan said.
About chickenpox
Chickenpox is an acute viral disease transmitted by airborne droplets. In mild climates, 90% of the population gets chickenpox before the age of 15, and 95% in childhood. The incubation period of the disease is 21 days, chickenpox is usually easily tolerated by patients and is accompanied by a slight increase in temperature, purulent rash. -0-
