YEREVAN, May 29. /ARKA/. On Thursday, the Armenian government approved a bill on amendments and additions to the Armenian Family Code and related laws at its regular session.
As Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan stated, the projects are aimed at implementing reforms in the child protection system, which is based on the 2021-2026 government program, as well as Armenia's international commitments.
"It is planned to increase the role of the community in the field of child protection by clearly establishing the powers that will be implemented in the field of child protection with the involvement of a specialized social worker," Mkrtchyan noted.
He said that in communities, the structures responsible for child protection are currently guardianship commissions, whose activities are assessed as unprofessional and ineffective in various local and international reports, in which persons with professional qualifications are not involved.
