Cost of coronavirus test kits in Armenia to drop

The price of coronavirus test kits in Armenia will be reduced, press secretary of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) Ani Smbatyan said on Friday.
YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. The price of coronavirus test kits in Armenia will be reduced, press secretary of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) Ani Smbatyan said on Friday.
She said an agreement to that end was reached following a meeting between the head of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Gegham Gevorgyan with representatives of medical centers and diagnostic laboratories involved in coronavirus testing.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the diagnostic laboratory Prom-Test LLC (Armenicum branch), Astghik, Normmed medical centers, Davidyants Laboratories, Ecosense LLC, Sirmed LLC, A.B. Med, LLC Diagen Plus Khirurgiya and LLC Tsitolab.
"During the meeting, the price of the kits, which are currently in great demand, was discussed. The companies expressed their readiness to reduce its cost to 15,000 drams maximum (about $30)," Smbatyan noted.
According to her, the price does not include services for a home visit, individual calls, express testing (the answer is issued within 24 hours) and additional services.
At the moment, the cost of a coronavirus test kit in Armenia ranges from 17,500 to 20,000 drams (from $34.4 to $ 40.5).
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Armenia has grown today to 73,310 with 2,474 new cases revealed over the past 24 hours. Some 1,145 people have died so far of COVID-19 and 50,276 patients have recovered. -0-
