Health ministry: 115 COVID-19 infection cases in Armenia

As of 09:00 on March 19, the number of coronavirus-infected people in Armenia has reached 115 - five new cases were confirmed, the Armenian health ministry reports. Doctors assess the condition of all patients as satisfactory. The ministry also reports one case of recovery.


Health ministry: 115 COVID-19 infection cases in Armenia
YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. As of 09:00 on March 19, the number of coronavirus-infected people in Armenia has reached 115 - five new cases were confirmed, the Armenian health ministry reports. Doctors assess the condition of all patients as satisfactory. The ministry also reports one case of recovery.

"An epidemiological analysis of the results indicates that 99 cases are interconnected with two primary cases," the ministry of health said in its report.

The Armenian government declared a state of emergency in the country from March 16 to April 14 in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

The first case of coronavirus infection in Armenia was confirmed on March 1, the patient has already recovered and was discharged from the hospital. Among those infected are Armenian citizens from Iran and Italy (residents of Yerevan, Echmiadzin, Meghri and Charentsavan), people in contact with them, as well as one Italian citizen and a visitor from France.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the vast majority of those infected are connected with the incident in Etchmiadzin and a plant in the Shengavit metropolitan area. -0---
