YEREVAN, January 11. /ARKA/. Highly skilled workers of retirement age with monthly salaries of 300,000 drams ($740) and above will be offered to postpone retirement, Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan said on Wednesday.

According to the minister, there are now about 9,000 such working pensioners in Armenia.

"And we have to do everything possible so that they continue to stay in the labor market, bringing benefits," the minister said at a press conference.

According to him, a relevant package of legislative amendments will be submitted to the parliament in the near future.

"A person of retirement age, who receives a salary of 300 thousand drams and above, may not need a pension ...... However, he/she will receive a higher pension in the future, which is not unimportant," Mkrtchyan believes.

Earlier, the minister said that citizens will be able to postpone retirement in exchange for certain financial benefits, but only for a year and only at will.

Today, the minimum pension in Armenia is 36,000 drams (88 dollars), while the average pension is 49,700 drams (122 dollars). The retirement age is 63 for women and men. --0—
