In Armenia, 21,228 deaths recorded in January-October; 5.3% increase
YEREVAN, December 6. /ARKA/. In Armenia, 21,228 people died between January and October 2024, which is 5.3% more than the number recorded during the same period in 2023. This is according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.
More than half of the people (53.1% or 11,265 individuals) died from diseases of the circulatory system, a figure that is 5.6% higher than in the first 10 months of 2023.
The second leading cause of death is neoplasms (20.8%, or 4,419 people, an increase of 3.5%).
Other causes of death include respiratory diseases (9.2% or 1,962 people, an increase of 12.7%), diseases of the digestive system (5.2% or 1,095 people, an increase of 12.9%), external causes of morbidity and mortality (4.2% or 886 people, a decrease of 3.3%), diseases of the endocrine system (1.7% or 365 people, an increase of 1.7%), and infectious diseases (0.9% or 201 people, an increase of 64.8%).
