In 2022 the number of traffic accidents in Armenia decreased from 2019

IIn 2022, the number of road accidents and that of people killed and injured in them dropped for the first time since 2019, Armenian Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. In 2022, the number of road accidents and that of people killed and injured in them dropped for the first time since 2019, Armenian Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

Specifically, he said, through 2021, with the exception of the coronavirus pandemic period, the number of road accidents had been rising by 15% a year, while the number of traffic accident victims by a 4%.

In 2022, the number of accidents dropped by 419 or 10.2 percent, compared to 2019. The number of people injured decreased by 646 or 9.5 percent and the number of people killed in the accidents decreased by 20 or 5.9 percent  

"Although in 2022 the number of new registered vehicles grew by 22,825, the measures taken resulted in a 295 or 6.4% decrease in road accidents compared to 2021.

As a result, the number of people killed decreased by 47, or 12.8%, and the number of people injured decreased by 542, or 8.1%," Ghazaryan said. According to him, the vehicle fleet in the country increased by 160,000 units, or 23%, between 2019 and 2022. --0---
