Minister explaining draft law on government-paid baby-sitter
YEREVAN, November 8. /ARKA/. Working moms in Armenia will no longer receive an AMD 18,000 maternity allowance, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Times) reports referring to Artem Asatryan, labor and social affairs minister.

Instead, the government will pay 50% of a baby-sitter’s services.

According to the newspaper, the draft law is being developed now.

Women now receive AMD 18,000 every month for a baby below 2 years of age, but, in accordance with the future law, if they want to work, the government will pay 50 percent of expenses on a baby-sitter, but no more than the size of the minimum salary.

”For example, if the baby-sitter’s salary is AMD 110,000, the government will pay AMD 5,000, and the remaining amount will be paid by parents.”

It is necessary to seal a contract with a baby-sitter, since the government will pay only if such a document is signed.

Asked if there are restrictions for signing a contract with the mom’s own mother-in-law, the minister said there will be no restrictions.

If the law will be adopted, baby-sitters will enter the tax field. ($1 – AMD 485.74). --0---
