Festive events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of Armenia's independence to be celebrated on September 21 will be held under the slogan "Our Motherland",  symbolizing the unity of all Armenians of the world and a common homeland, the government press office said.

YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Festive events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of Armenia's independence to be celebrated on September 21 will be held under the slogan "Our Motherland",  symbolizing the unity of all Armenians of the world and a common homeland, the government press office said. It added that most of the events on September 21 will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It said the Public TV (channel one) will be showing concerts filmed in various regions of Armenia, films about the Armenians living at home and abroad, videos about the aspirations of Armenians, greetings from residents of border regions and soldiers guarding the borders.

In all ten regions and 11 specially designated areas in Yerevan, talented and famous musicians and groups will perform. A gala concert entitled "Our Armenians" is also planned. Armenians from different parts of the world will send their performances of any Armenian work. 

The Public Radio will broadcast recordings of concerts recorded in 10 regions of Armenia and in Yerevan.

"Information about events is periodically posted on the Independence Day Facebook page," the message says.

Armenia on September 21, 2020 will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the country's independence. On this day in 1991, by the decision of the Supreme Council a referendum was held on secession from the USSR and the creation of an independent state. The popular vote took place in the wake of the rise of the national movement. Almost the entire population voted for the proclamation of independence - about 99% of the country's citizens who had the right to vote. Independence was officially declared by parliament on 23 September. -0-
