Armenia's National Statistical Committee has compiled a list of the most popular names given to newborn babies in 2020.

YEREVAN, May 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Statistical Committee has compiled a list of the most popular names given to newborn babies in 2020. The list is traditionally topped by Narè, given to baby girls and David given to baby boys. Narè was given to 745 newborn girls, and David - to 1,346 boys.

The five most popular names given to baby girls were Maria (613), Angelina (592), Arpi (503) and Manè (437).

The five popular names given to baby boys were Narek (902), Hayk (610), Mark (579) and Monte (570).

Other names given to baby boys were Alex (377) and Max (105). Many boys were given foreign names - Alain (377), Arthur (370), Daniel (343), Robert (262), Eric (217), Raphael (88), Albert (87), Henry (81) and Edgar (80)

Other names, given to baby girls were Eva (402), Helen (321), Ariana (276), Sophie (269), Adriana and Yana (253), Eva (226) , Arina (217), Natalie (179), Victoria (176), Mila (151), Emily (145), Sarah (144), Lia (140), Mary (122), Diana (110), Monica (103) , Lily (101) and Lika (80). The least popular names were Luce and Lusine (79) and Amelie (77).

In 2020, 17,299 girls were born in the country (17,173 girls in 2019), and 19,053 boys (18,958 boys in 2019). -0-
