YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. Artem Asatryan, Armenian labor and social affairs minister, answering a question the lawmakers put to him at Q&A session in the National Assembly, said the government planed no any increase in the pension size in 2017.
He said AMD 198 billion is earmarked in the government budget for 463,000 pensioners with the minimum size of AMD 14,000.
The minister said for several years 30% of the government budget was targeted for social needs, and in two recent years the average size of pensions was increased by 15% in each of these tow years reaching AMD 41,000.
“This is not enough, but in 2017 spending on pensions is not planned to be increased because of outside factors, particularly social, economic and other problems,” he said.
In his words, the government is trying to provide not only financial assistance to pensioners, but also other services, especially to single and disabled pensioners.
Asatryan said that increase of the pension size would need at least additional AMD 30 billion from the budget. ($1 – AMD 473.86). --0---
