Pashinyan says 'possible rise in corruption' is a threat to macroeconomic stability

YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan warned today that 'a possible increase in corruption' may become a serious threat to macroeconomic stability.
Speaking at a parliamentary debate on 2024 draft budget Pashinyan said the government, the authorities should strengthen their principled fight against corruption.
"Reports that some issues are still being solved in different places, at different levels with the help of bribes are a cause for concern," Pashinyan noted.
In this regard, he emphasized that no shocks and crises should weaken the political will to fight corruption, which he said 'is a matter of national security.
"We are deeply concerned about a stereotype according to which one can solve something with the help of money. Let's agree that there will be no forgiveness here, neither for representatives of the former nor the current government," Pashinyan said.
Armenia is a member of the Council of Europe's Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) and the OECD's 's Anti-Corruption Network and its anti-corruption measures are being regularly evaluated within their monitoring mechanisms. -0-
