YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. Armenia needs $150 billion to stop the ongoing exodus of its population, Aharon Adibekyan, the director of Sociometer polling center, told a news conference today.
"This money is needed to rebuild the industry, create new jobs. The future of Armenia lies in the development of nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals and light chemistry," Adibekyan said.
According to him, the bulk of Armenian citizens seeking a better life outside their home country is the middle class, who are competitive abroad.
Citing the findings of a survey, Aharonyan said today 25% of fathers of Armenian families live outside the country working abroad, while 30% of Armenians below 30 do not marry because of lack of money. The negative balance of migration in Armenia, according to Sociometer, is 7%- 8% annually. In 2015 this figure was 7.2%. Aharon Adibekyan also believes that the new prime minister should set up a government of technocrats.
"If he has the" right "team, composed of graduates of technical universities, who think on a larger scale unlike economists, who know only how to count money, he could take Armenia out of the crisis", said Adibekyan.
According to him, there is a lot of free money in the world and "if we can correctly position Armenia, some of that money will be invested in our country." -0
