Riccardo Muti to give concert in Yerevan

Riccardo Muti, a legendary conductor, former artistic director of  Milan’s world-famous La Scala theatre and a great friend of the Armenian people, will arrive in Yerevan in early July,  the press service of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia said today.

YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. Riccardo Muti, a legendary conductor, former artistic director of Milan’s world-famous La Scala theatre and a great friend of the Armenian people, will arrive in Yerevan in early July, the press service of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia said today.

It said on July 4, Muti will conduct a concert as part of the Ravenna Festival. The concert titled "Brothers Bridge through Art and Culture" will take place at the Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

On July 3 at 19:00 the Aram Khachatryan concert hall will host the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia that will perform a concert dedicated to Muti and the Ravenna Festival. The orchestra under the direction of conductor Eduard Topchyan will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Berlioz's Fantastic Symphony.

The soloist in the concert will be the talented 15-year-old pianist Maya Ohanyan, who will come from Italy and perform in Armenia for the first time.

The concert will take place within the framework of the XXI International Festival "Yerevan Perspectives". Muti will also attend the concert in person. This year the Ravenna Festival is dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri. -0-
