Some 16,401 people died in Armenia in January-August, 11.1% yoy decline -NSC

YEREVAN, October 5. /ARKA/. Some 16,401 people died in Armenia in January-August 2023, which is 11.1% less than in the same period of 2022, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported.
It said more than half of the people (53.2% or 8,730 people) died from circulatory system diseases, 13.1% less than in the same period of 2022.
The second most widespread cause of deaths were neoplasms (20.9% or 3,430 people, a decrease of 0.2%).
Other causes of death include respiratory diseases (8.9% or 1,458 people, down 13.2%), digestive diseases (4.7% or 773 people, up 1.3%), and external causes (4.3% or 697 people, up 3.7%).
There was a radical decrease in deaths due to covid-19, with 37 people dying from the virus in 8 months (0.2%, a decline of 94.9%). -0-
