Some 400 disabled people employed in Armenia under LIFE program

Some 400 disabled people got jobs in the recent two years in Yerevan as well as in Ararat, Lori, Shirak and Gegharkunik provinces under the Save the Children Organization's LIFE Program, Jina Sargizova, the program director, told journalists on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, December 3. /ARKA/. Some 400 disabled people got jobs in the recent two years in Yerevan as well as in Ararat, Lori, Shirak and Gegharkunik provinces under the Save the Children Organization's LIFE Program, Jina Sargizova, the program director, told journalists on Wednesday. The program was launched in 2012. Its aim is to employ people with disabilities. «As part of the program, 17 social enterprises have been established in Yerevan and in the provinces, which employed 200 disabled people for two years,» she said. She also said that the program also includes professional trainings for people with disabilities, thanks to which some 900 young people have been trained, and 200 of them have got jobs. «This is a very important matter,» she added. «At the meetings with this program beneficiaries and employers I see that people with disabilities want to work and are able to work. Employers say such category of people as contributive to the economy as other people. » Stressing the importance of employment of the disabled, Sargizova said that 120,000 of 200,000 disabled people are in active working age and are able to work. Some 195,000 disabled people live in Armenia now. Of them 8,600 are children. ---0-----
