Three new projects with the total budget of 1.7 million euros have been launched in Armenia with the support of the European Union designed to protect the labor and social rights of the country's residents.

YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. Three new projects with the total budget of 1.7 million euros have been launched in Armenia with the support of the European Union designed to protect the labor and social rights of the country's residents.

The financing was provided by the European Union at the end of 2020, and their implementation started at the beginning of 2021. The projects are being carried out by three consortia uniting 14 civil society organizations from all over Armenia. 

Decent Work Now! 

This project started on February 1, 2021 and will run until January 31, 2024. Its total budget is about 466 thousand euros, of which about 399 thousand euros were provided by the EU. The project is being implemented by the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly, the Transparency International anti-corruption center, the Advanced Public Research Group, the Factor information center in conjunction with the Education and Solidarity trade union.

The goal of the project is to promote the development and application of personal, collective and state mechanisms for the protection of labor and social rights in Armenia through strengthening of workers and trade unions aimed at reforming the legislative field.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to improve and apply mechanisms for the protection of labor and social rights of citizens, strengthen mechanisms for the collective protection of labor rights and ensure a law-based approach to unemployment. It is also planned to contribute to the reform of state mechanisms of labor rights and social protection. 

For Work: An Accountable and Inclusive Labor Market Initiative 

The budget of this project is over 300 thousand euros. It is implemented by the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies, the Armavir Development Center and the Revival Development Fund.

The executive director of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies Eduard Musaelyan told the ARKA news agency that he plans to create an online platform where the so-called "passports" for each organization will be made with detailed information about its employees.

"The platform will have 2 main functions: the first is automated risk analysis and the creation of a smart risk map. The second is the installation of a system for collecting and tracking complaints on the site," he said. According to him, the goal of the project is to improve and increase the level of protection of labor rights. 

Civil Rights Strengthening Project 

The full title of the project is "EU for Labor Rights: Strengthening Citizens' Voice and Role in Armenia for Labor Rights and Social Protection". It started on February 15, 2021 and will end on February 14, 2024, with a total budget of 400 thousand euros, of which 360 thousand euros were provided by the EU.

The project is being implemented by OxYGen Foundation, Socioscope NGO, Asparez Journalists Club, Advanced Armenian Youth NGO, Institute of Multilateral Information - Armenia in cooperation with Defense of Rights Without Borders NGO and the Eurasia Partnership Foundation.

As part of the project consultations will be delivered to stimulate the creation and implementation of state policy aimed at protecting labor rights, as well as exchange of experience and knowledge for participants of the open platform for dialogue "Voice of a Citizen" with the involvement of social colleagues and civil society organizations active in Europe.

The project is launching a public awareness campaign to empower particularly vulnerable groups in society to exercise their labor and social rights. The focus of the awareness campaign will be on the rights of youth and women. - 0--
