Yerevan mayor announces new phase of public transportation reform

YEREVAN, October 17. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality will buy more buses, including electric buses as part of a plan to expand and improve the Armenian capital city's public transportation system, Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced on Monday.
"Today citizens can track the movement of seven bus routes through Yandex Maps application in real time mode. In a month they will be able to find out through an application in their phones when the bus will arrive at the stop," Avinyan said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.
According to him, in 2024, new bus stops with electronic boards will be built and passengers will be able to track the movement of all buses.
"The unified fare system will be available within a month and a half. Fares for different groups will be set, some will get discounts," Avinyan said.
On September 15, the municipality launched a program designed to introduce a unified ticketing system in public transport. Special equipment is being installed in buses: first in German-made MAN buses, then in trolleybuses and the subway, and by the end of the year in all buses. -0-
