Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan said today the municipality will announce a tender later this month for the purchase of 100 buses.
YEREVAN, February 11. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan said today the municipality will announce a tender later this month for the purchase of 100 buses.
He said the municipality is negotiating with the government seeking a permission to attract a loan to finance the purchase. He said a small batch of buses has already arrived in Yerevan. Marutyan said the municipality expects that some 100 buses will be in Yerevan in autumn.
'It is also important which company will win the tender, because many companies, even well-known ones, cannot produce such a large batch in a short period of time," the mayor said.
In December 2019, Marutyan said the Yerevan administration was negotiating with several international banks a $120 million to $250 million loan to finance the purchase of buses.
According to Hakob Karapetyan, a spokesman for the municipality, some 850 buses are needed to introduce a new public transportation system. He said also that the first batch of buses will arrive in Yerevan in 2020. --0--
