Yerevan Chess Federation to hold first Yerevan Cup tournament

The Yerevan Chess Federation said it is organizing the first Yerevan Cup chess tournament to celebrate Armenia's Independence Day, marked on September 21, saying also the tournament will become traditional.
YEREVAN, September 3. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Chess Federation said it is organizing the first Yerevan Cup chess tournament to celebrate Armenia's Independence Day, marked on September 21, saying also the tournament will become traditional.
The first stage of the tournament will take place on September 5, from 18:00 to 20:00, on the lichess.org chess platform through the Arena system. The second stage, semi-final and final games will be held until September 21 inclusive.
On the Independence Day the last couples of the first tournament will meet. Eight best players will compete for medals in the Tigran Petrosyan Chess House.
“We are glad to announce that everyone can participate - from beginners to grandmasters. To register for the competition, one should send an application to the address,if they are not yet members of the Yerevan Chess team,” the federation said.
To confirm the application, the applicants are asked to indicate personal data in the letter. The prize fund is 1.8 million drams (about $3,500). The winner will be awarded a cup. Details are available on the federation website. -0-
