Armenian NPP plans to develop cooperation with Swedish companies

Possibilities of cooperation between the Armenian NPP and Swedish industrial companies were discussed during a visit to the facility by the Swedish delegation headed by the Ambassador of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson.

YEREVAN, February 20. /ARКА/. Possibilities of cooperation between the Armenian NPP and Swedish industrial companies were discussed during a visit to the facility by the Swedish delegation headed by the Ambassador of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson.
During the visit, the prospects for exchanging experience, as well as issues related to the use of innovative technologies in the energy sector were discussed, the press service of the ANPP reported.
First Deputy Director General Movses Vardanyan presented the current processes to extend the service life of power unit No. 2 of the plant.
The parties also discussed issues related to the construction of a new power unit in Armenia and emphasized the importance of using the potential of advanced Swedish technologies. It was emphasized that deepening diplomatic and business ties can contribute to the expansion of Armenian-Swedish cooperation in the energy and nuclear industry.
The parties attached importance to such mutual visits and expressed confidence that this visit will contribute to the development of cooperation between the Armenian NPP and Swedish companies.
About the Armenian NPP
The Armenian NPP, the only one in the South Caucasus region, is located near the city of Metsamor, approximately 30 kilometers west of Yerevan. The plant is one of the main sources of electricity in the country, providing up to 40% of the total generation. Its resource has been extended until 2026, and work is underway to extend it for another 10 years.
The Armenian government plans to build a new NPP within 8-10 years. Currently, various options are being compared and the experience of partners from Russia, the United States, and South Korea is being studied.-0-
