YEREVAN, January 17. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan  and Thomas Eisenbach, the  head of energy department at German state-run KfW bank, discussed today in Yerevan a set of  questions concerning the implementation of one of the largest KfW-funded projects in Armenia - the construction of high-voltage power transmission line from Armenia to Georgia.

Manukyan was quoted as saying in a press release, sent to ARKA by the ministry that the quality issue is very important to the Armenian side and in choosing a contractor for the project the Armenian government will take into account the past experience, as well as the correlation between the price and quality.

He also stressed the importance of compliance with the terms of construction since the power line is part of Iran-Armenia-Georgia energy corridor and it should be put into operation together with the Iran-Armenia power transmission line.

Earlier it was reported that the construction of a new Armenia-Georgia power line will start in 2017. Construction of the third power transmission line between Armenia and Iran is already underway, which will increase the mutual flow of energy between the states several times to 1200 MW.

During the meeting the two men discussed also other energy projects. In particular, Eisenbach said the bank was ready to participate in wind energy projects. -0-
