CIS countries will exchange data on radiation situation monitoring

YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. The heads of governments of CIS member states have signed today an agreement on cooperation in exchanging radiation situation monitoring data.
The document, signed at a session of CIS Council of Heads of Governments in Russian Sochi, will allow participating states to react promptly to the changes in radiation parameters and timely inform neighboring countries in case of a threat or spread of radioactive substances on the territory of the CIS states, including third countries.
According to the authors of the document, this mechanism of information exchange will allow to promptly take necessary measures to protect the population and the environment.
To implement a clear and expeditious procedure for the exchange of data, the agreement provides for the designation of an authorized body by each of the participating parties, as well as development of a unified procedure for the exchange of data.
Earlier, on May 25, 2023, the government of Armenia approved a proposal to sign an agreement "On Interaction between CIS Member States on Exchange of Data on Monitoring the Radioactive Situation.'--0-
