YEREVAN, December 1. /ARKA/. Construction of a radioisotope production center in Armenia is already coming to an end, the press office of the Armenian health ministry reported on Monday.

The centre construction is the first stage of the establishment of a center of excellence in oncology.

Armen Muradyan, the Armenian health minister, visited the center on Monday to see the job done there.

Now additional equipment is being assembled. In March 2015, CYCLONE 18/18 cyclotron accelerator made by Belgium’s IBA Molecular was installed in the center. It will be possible to carry out positron emission tomography in the center.

The second stage of development of the project description of the radiation treatment branch is under way now.

In 2009, the Armenian government decided to order establishment of a nuclear medicine oncology center affiliated to the Yerevan Institute of Physics. The center is run by Belgium’s   Global Medical Solutions.

The centre will consist of three high-tech sections – a laboratory equipped by cyclotron for synthesis of radioisotopes, a diagnostic center of positron emission tomography that makes early detection of tumors possible and a clinic where patients will be treated by radioisotopes. ---0---
