A total of 9,381.4 million kWh of electricity was generated in Armenia in 2024, which is 6.5% more than in 2023,the National Statistical Committee said.

YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. A total of 9,381.4 million kWh of electricity was generated in Armenia in 2024, which is 6.5% more than in 2023,the National Statistical Committee said.

Thermal power plants account for the largest share of generated electricity - 37.5% or 3,516.4 million kWh, a 5.4% decline YoY.

The Armenian NPP produced 2,830.0 mln kWh, a 4.5% growth (30.2%, of the total) and the share of HPPs was 22%. They produced - 1,868.4 mln kWh, a 25.1% growth.

Heliostations produced 974.6 million kWh of electricity last year (up 32.9%) and wind farms produced 1.2 million kWh (down 47.4%).

Starting in 2023, the electricity production volume also includes the electricity produced by autonomous power producers. -0-

Minister states plan to nationalize ENA preceded its owner's political statement.

The need to nationalize Armenia's power distributing company Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) was not prompted by a political statement made by its owner, Russia-based businessman Samvel Karapetyan, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister David Khudatyan said in parliament on Tuesday.
