New thermal power plant with 254 MW capacity commissioned in Yerevan
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended today the inauguration of a new combined-cycle power plant with 254 MW capacity in Yerevan, the government press service reported.
Accompanied by Giovanni Rubini, the CEO of RENCO, one of the contractors chosen by the government for the construction of the power plant , the Armenian Prime Minister toured the facility.
About $270 million were invested in the construction of the power plant and some 1,200 people worked on the project. Also, some 50 new permanent jobs were created.
The electricity that the plant will generate will be the cheapest produced by power plants of this type.
The direct contract with ArmPower and RENCO companies as part of a framework agreement on the construction of the plant was signed in 2019. -0-
