Over 40 elevators in Yerevan residential buildings found unsafe

A maintenance check up in Yerevan has found more than 40 elevators in residential buildings unsafe for operation, Lusine Hovhanisyan, a senior expert of the National Center for Technical Safety of the Ministry of Emergencies and Territorial Administration, told a news conference today.

A maintenance check up in Yerevan has found more than 40 elevators in residential buildings unsafe for operation, Lusine Hovhanisyan, a senior expert of the National Center for Technical Safety of the Ministry of Emergencies and Territorial Administration, told a news conference today.
She said these elevators are in Davidashen administrative district (2), Kentron -11, Malatia-Sebastia and Nor-Nork (22).
According to her, out of 4,341 elevators in residential buildings across the country only 2,563 or about 59% of the total could pass the exam.
She said under the law on technical security all hazardous facilities must at least once a year pass the safety examination. This applies also to elevators.
About two months ago, a resident of Yerevan was killed after the elevator she was in fell into the shaft. -0-
