South Caucasus Railway invests 10 billion drams in its infrastructure in Lori province

The South Caucasus Railway has invested a total of 10 billion drams in its infrastructure in Lori province, the CEO of the Russian-run company, Sergey Valko said today at a ceremony organized to restart the traction substation in the village of Pambak in Lori.

YEREVAN, October 13. / ARKA /. The South Caucasus Railway has invested a total of 10 billion drams in its infrastructure in Lori province, the CEO of the Russian-run company, Sergey Valko said today at a ceremony organized to restart the traction substation in the village of Pambak in Lori. According to him, this year some 600 million drams will have been invested in the region.
He said the traction substation will ensure the energy security of the company’s infrastructure in the area. The substation was idle since 1989. Today it can ensure the energy security not only of the railroad, but also provide electricity to nearby villages.
Valko said the rehabilitation of the substation cost 30 million drams. It will have five-member permanent staff. He said the company has also restored and strengthened several bridges and other infrastructure facilities responsible for the safety of trains movement.
Now, two communities- Yeghegnut and Pambak will get uninterrupted power supply. The traction substation’s installed capacity is 10,000 kW, which is twice the company’s needs in this area.
The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years of operation. -0-
