General Secretary of UNWTO highly appreciates the efforts of Armenian government in tourism development

During the meeting of UN General Secretary of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai and Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, Rifai highly appreciated the efforts of the Armenian government in tourism development.
YEREVAN, July 6. /ARKA/. During the meeting of UN General Secretary of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai and Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, Rifai highly appreciated the efforts of the Armenian government in tourism development.

Rifai said that UNWTO wants to assist Armenia in the development of tourism in the country saying that the results of 2010 were impressing.

Sargsyan emphasized the importance of Rifai’s visit saying that it can give new impulse to the development of tourism in the country.

“Development of tourism is one of the priorities of the Armenian government and we should use the experience and knowledge of UNWTO”, said Sargsyan.

The parties discussed the efforts targeted at the increase of tourist attraction in Armenia, implementation of joint educational and learning programs, establishment and development of Armenian tourism brand.

According to the data of Armenian National Statistic Service, the number of tourists visiting Armenia in January-May 2011 increased by 22.1% compared with the indicator of 2010 making 113 515 people. --0--
