Armenia a Hidden Track: new tourism brand created

YEREVAN, December 14. /ARKA/. A new tourism brand of Armenia has been created along with a website presenting the country's tourism potential, Armenia's Tourism Committee said on Tuesday.

The head of the Tourism Committee Sisian Poghosyan said the new brand called Armenia a Hidden Track and a relating website will introduce foreigners to Armenia's four sides - nature, culture, cuisine and wines.

The website was created with financial support of the EU and German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as part of EU for Business: Innovative Tourism and Technology Development in Armenia program.

"The website is currently in English, but next year it will also be translated into Russian, French and German," she said.

The website features numerous sections with information about the country's history, nature, art, culture, national cuisine and wines, outdoor activities, technology and more.

Poghosyan said that next year the Committee will continue to work with the World Bank and German GIZ and will start cooperating with airlines on advertising in Armenia.

Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said that Armenia has great tourism potential due to its unique cultural and historical heritage, unexplored corners of the country, national cuisine, active recreation, etc.

'The "religious" tourism has been replaced by new directions: nature, active recreation, gastrotourism and cultural tourism, which includes also "religious tourism," he said.

Poghosyan said also that the number of foreign tourists visiting the country this year may reach 1.7 million.-0-
