Armenia’s parliament has ratified today an agreement on mutual abolition of visas with Macao.
YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s parliament has ratified today an agreement on mutual abolition of visas with Macao. Deputy foreign minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said the agreement with the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) had been signed at the beginning of the year with the permission of the central government of China.
According to him, Macao citizens will be exempted from having to obtain visas upon entry to Armenia, if the period of their stay in the country will not exceed 90 days. Macao has agreements on visa-free entry with 120 countries and regions.
Macao Special Administrative Region was established December 20, 1999 as a result of the elimination of the Portuguese colony of Macao, and has become one of the two SARs of China. The second is Hong Kong.
Macao was developed by the Portuguese as a trading post and became the chief center of trade between Europe and China in the 18th century. In 1999, Macao passed to China, as agreed upon in 1987. Special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China enjoy a high degree of autonomy. -- 0--
