YEREVAN, July 21. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Economy will release additional funding of €6 million to the mountain spa resort town of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor region to boost its tourist appeal, said Minister Gevorg Papoyan.

“Our primary task is to create an environment in which tourists will have a vivid and fulfilling experience, and entrepreneurs will have sustainable opportunities for development with appropriate support from the state,” Papoyan said at a meeting with representatives of the business community in one of Armenia's most popular resort towns.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the meeting discussed opportunities to stimulate economic activity, develop tourism, and improve the investment environment of the community.

Papoyan presented the progress in the development of the Jermuk tourism cluster, noting that the community has become a beneficiary under the new loan program.

Earlier it was reported that the World Bank would provide $100 million to Armenia for the creation of tourism clusters in communities such as Areni, Jermuk, Goris, Dvin, Gyumri, Aparan, Yeghegis, Sevan, and Dilijan.

The TRIP program will be implemented from 2025 to 2029. It aims to improve the viability of the territories and communities involved in the clusters and increase their tourist appeal for stimulating additional income and local economies for the communities. -0-
