Armenia Creates Union of Stone Manufacturers, Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Russia (EXCLUSIVE)

YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. On April 17, the Union of Stone Manufacturers was created in Armenia and a memorandum of cooperation was signed with Russia.
As noted by the head of the newly created Union of Stone Manufacturers of Armenia Taron Badalyan, the purpose of creating the union is to ensure Armenia's presence on international platforms, in related educational programs, and holding stone festivals.
"The memorandum assumes more in-depth consultations and communication between Armenian and Russian stone manufacturers. The field and problems are almost the same. And if we can help each other, we will. We are also ready to adopt experience, for example, how quarries are developed, stone is processed. And most importantly, to expand the market for stone from Armenia to Russia. Because many of our colleagues sometimes simply do not know where to find Armenian stone," Lev Zohrabyan, chairman of the Union of Stone Manufacturers of Russia, told the ARKA news agency.
He also reported that there is great interest in Armenian stone in Russia.
"There are a lot of projects, both in Moscow and in the regions. There are projects in Rostov-on-Don as well. Residential complexes are being built there, which are also faced with Armenian stone. In our Krasnodar region, on the coast, they are also building hotels using Armenian travertine. In addition to large facilities, there are a lot of private companies that buy Armenian travertine for home improvement, facades and adjacent areas," said Zohrabyan.
He expressed confidence that the signing of the memorandum will lead to an increase in stone exports from Armenia, as there will be more opportunities for cooperation and contacts.
"When I started a stone business in Russia in 2011-2012, I started with Armenian stone. And it was very disappointing when the Italians sold Armenian stone as their own. Now the stone business is developing very actively in Armenia. There is domestic demand that needs to be met. There are good projects," said Zohrabyan.
