Armenian Parliament Ratifies Agreement on Automobile Freight Transportation with Kazakhstan

YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. On Monday, the National Assembly of Armenia ratified the protocol on amendments and additions to the Armenian-Kazakh Agreement "On Automobile Communications", signed on November 6, 2006.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Armen Simonyan stated that automobile communication between Armenia and Kazakhstan is regulated by this agreement, which mainly covers issues of regular and irregular interstate passenger transportation, as well as the sphere of cargo transportation.

"The problem in cargo transportation is related to road and environmental taxes. It is proposed to establish a regime under which carriers will be exempt from a number of fees - as is already in effect with other EAEU countries. The protocol proposes to introduce a similar regime with Kazakhstan," Simonyan noted.

The protocol, which was developed and agreed upon with the relevant authorities of the partner country, was signed in Yerevan on April 15, 2024 and later approved by the relevant parliamentary commission.
