YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan has appointed Vardan Kostanyan as the country's trade attaché in Iran, according to the official website of the government. Tigran Avinyan is acting as head of government after acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took a leave to campaign for the June 20 early elections to parliament.

Kostanyan will take office on July 1, 2021. His term in office is 3 years. The decision to appoint a trade attaché to Iran was made at a meeting of the government on April 15, 2021.

The trade attaché's mission is to intensify the Armenian-Iranian trade and economic cooperation and mutual visits in view of the significant prospects for interaction.

Also, the trade attaché will represent the interests of Armenian companies in Iran, facilitating their entry the Iranian market.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in 2020 amounted to $400.2 million. Armenian exports to Iran amounted to $84.8 million, and imports - to $315.4 million.

Armenia has trade attaches in China, Belarus, Austria, Switzerland and Turkmenistan. –0--
