Armenia tightens control over goods imported from EEU
YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Revenue Committee has tightened border control over goods imported from the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
The SRC said in a statement that shipments that were sent to Armenia from other EEU countries but underwent unloading, reloading or other cargo operations in the territory of third countries were still treated as EEU goods, and tax authorities only issued warnings (to importers against possible violations).
According to SRC, a possible weakening of discipline among carriers of the goods concerned could lead to abuse. Therefore, stricter rules have been adopted according to which:
- goods are not recognized as imported from an EEU member country if they have been unloaded or other cargo operations have been carried out with them on the territory of third countries without the permission of the customs authority, unless these operations have been carried out as a result of an accident or force majeure.
-when goods transported from an EEU member country do not comply with the transit declaration. Under such conditions, they are subject to clearance as products of a third country. If they are not properly formalized as products of a third country, their importation will be prohibited.
At the same time, it is reported that entrepreneurs will not be deprived of the opportunity to provide other evidence of the status of the products in question as goods from the EEU. -0-
