Armenian government prioritizes development of domestic aviation, says Prime Minister
YEREVAN, December 3. /ARКА/. The enhancement of domestic aviation ranks high among the government's key initiatives, with considerations being made for options in Armenia's regions, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday.
"We are assessing the feasibility of launching programs in Shinuhayr, Sisian, Stepanavan, Gavar, and Berd. Additionally, we aim to attract private investors," Pashinyan mentioned during a government Q&A session in parliament.
He addressed the halt of the Yerevan-Kapan flights (operated by NovAir since the summer of 2023; its air operator certificate was suspended for six months on October 27, 2025 - ed.). Pashinyan pointed out that the aircraft assigned to this route is currently undergoing routine maintenance.
"Efforts are being made to bring in another aircraft until the maintenance is finalized." Flights will persist; this is merely a technical matter," he stated with assurance.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of fostering commercial interest in domestic flights; until that is achieved, they will be subsidized.-0-
