Four Gazprom Armenia employees and an official from Urban Development and Safety Inspectorate detained
YEREVAN, August 14. /ARКА/. Four employees of Gazprom Armenia (Russia-owned Armenia's national natural gas distributor) and one official from the Urban Development and Safety Inspectorate have been detained, Marina Ohanjanyan, the press secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee, shared this information with Novosti-Armenia news agency on Friday.
"As part of the criminal investigation launched by the Committee, four staff members of Gazprom Armenia CJSC and one official from the Urban Development, Technical, and Fire Safety Inspectorate have been detained," Ohanjanyan stated.
She explained that the case involves allegations of bribery in return for favorable approvals, while overlooking violations that occurred during the natural gas supply to new constructions.
According to her, four of the detainees have been remanded in custody, while one has been placed under house arrest.
ARKA News Agency reached out to Gazprom Armenia for a comment, but the company has yet to respond. -0-
