Hails that affected a large portion of Armenian Armavir province on May 18 and 23 have caused serious damage to 12 communities, Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said today.

YEREVAN, May 25, / ARKA /. Hails that affected a large portion of Armenian Armavir province on May 18 and 23 have caused serious damage to 12 communities, Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said today.

He said yesterday he and Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited several communities of Armavir region to assess the amount of damage. According to him, 12 communities were affected in which the hails damaged from 30 to 80% of the crop.

In comments on reports that anti-hail stations started to work only after the hails were over, Karapetyan said it happened due to communication problems.

"This issue is being discussed with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia", he said.-0-
