YEREVAN, May 25. /ARKA/. Russia is a reliable supplier of energy resources, especially for its partners. However, the preferential gas price that attracts Yerevan may begin to form on a market basis if Armenia decides to leave the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov recalled at a briefing.
“We have heard statements from the Armenian leadership that there is a very, very attractive, more than preferential price for Russian gas and Russian energy resources.
This is true - Russia remains a reliable and responsible supplier of energy resources to all countries and especially to its closest allies and partners,” TASS quotes Peskov.
At the same time, Peskov pointed out that “such a regime is impossible for participants in other integrations” - this is “the European Union, of course.”
“The price category there is completely different - it is market. This is very well known to our friends in Yerevan,” he concluded.
On May 22, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that there could be no increase in gas prices in Armenia, since there is a mutually beneficial agreement with Russia.
On April 1 in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Pashinyan that Russian gas for Armenia is cheaper than this fuel costs in Europe. According to him, today gas prices in Europe “are off the charts for $600 per thousand cubic meters, and Russia sells gas to Armenia for $177.5 per thousand cubic meters.”
On April 9, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, commenting on the likelihood of an increase in the price of Russian natural gas for Armenia, said that there are long-term contracts between Armenia and Russia, and they will not be violated.
