YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. A shadowy online gaming platform scheme operating without a license has been uncovered in Yerevan. The RA State Revenue Committee (SRC) has reported damages totaling 2.4 billion drams.
"As a result of joint activities by the SRC and the NSS, it was revealed that hundreds of individuals, multimillion-dollar financial flows, and transfers through cryptocurrency wallets were involved in these activities," the agency stated in a statement.
As a result of operational and investigative activities at several addresses in Yerevan, hundreds of employees, work computers, server equipment, mobile phones, a large number of SIM cards, video recording devices, and a significant amount of electronic and paper documents were discovered.
Particular attention was paid to employee payments. Several employees reported that, in addition to their official salaries, they regularly received cash bonuses and allowances. According to preliminary data, employees were paid over 950 million drams in cash payments, bonuses, and incentives that were not reflected in tax returns.
Preliminary estimates place the amount of hidden income tax at over 193 million drams.
It was discovered that players' financial transfers were conducted through various methods. Funds transferred by clients were used through intermediaries to top up gaming accounts and place bets. In some cases, data on cryptocurrency transfers, deposits, and withdrawals of winnings was discovered.
According to preliminary estimates, the potential damage to the state from unlicensed activity exceeds 2.4 billion drams. Criminal proceedings have been initiated, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
