The South Caucasus Railway improved efficiency of its freight cars and locomotives significantly over 2012, the company’s press service told ARKA Agency.

YEREVAN, January 17. /ARKA/. The South Caucasus Railway improved efficiency of its freight cars and locomotives significantly over 2012, the company’s press service told ARKA Agency.
According to the company’s recent statistics, freight car cycle time reduced by 0.6 days or 18.8%, compared to the level of 2011. Average cycle time was 3.2 days in the period.
Average daily output of a freight car was 4,516 ton-km net/car, which is 17.8% higher compared to the same period of the year before.
Locomotive fleet efficiency is also improved. In particular, average daily mileage of locomotive was 365.7 loc-km, a 5.9% increase against January-December of 2011.
According to the report, the progress was made due to policy of improved maintenance of rolling and traction stock as part of complex traffic safety measures.
South Caucasus Railway cjsc is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railways open joint stock company that is operating Armenian railways under a 30-year concession contract signed in 2008. The contract can be extended for another 10 years. -0-
