Armenia's Finance Minister Promises Changes to the Tax Code
YEREVAN, January 21. /ARKA/. Work is currently underway on a tax policy concept, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan announced at a final press conference.

"I think we will be able to present it to the public and experts soon. Since the Tax Code was adopted (in 2017 – ed.), significant changes have occurred in Armenia, both economically and politically, and the culture of paying taxes has evolved. This should be reflected in the Tax Code," Hovhannisyan said.

He promised that this would apply to small and medium-sized businesses.

"There is a need to simplify and reduce compliance costs for small businesses so they can focus on their core functions and not waste resources on tax reports," Hovhannisyan stated.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Tax Code was "anti-state." Hovhannisyan expressed the opinion that the prime minister's remark referred to the fact that a number of tax regulations contributed to some businesses not paying taxes.
