Armenia's ministries of economy and finance to swap responsibilities
YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/. The Committee on Economic Affairs of the Armenian Parliament has approved, in the first reading, a bill that proposes an exchange of responsibilities between the Ministries of Economy and Finance.
Under the proposed changes, the Ministry of Economy will take on the responsibility for the development of the gambling sector, while the Ministry of Finance will oversee the development of relations between the state and the private sector.
Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan explained that the decision was made because gambling is considered an economic sector, just like any other, and therefore falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy. He also noted that the area of public-private sector relations primarily involves procurement issues, which align more with the Ministry of Finance’s competencies. This is why the decision to reassign these duties was made.
