Cargo traffic in Armenia decreased by 10.2 per cent in 11 months, while passenger traffic grew by 18.1 per cent
YEREVAN, 15 January. /ARKA/. The total volume of cargo traffic in Armenia in January-November 2024 dropped by 10.2% compared to the same period of 2023 to over 15.2 million tons, while the total number of passenger traffic upped by 18% to over 204.2 million people, according to the National Statistics Committee.
In the first 11 months of last year, over 12.2 million tons of cargo were transported by road transport (down 8% compared to January-November 2023), about 1.7 million tons by main pipeline transport (down 1.2%), over 1.3 million tons by railway transport (down 32.9%), and 37,100 tons by air transport (up 21.1%).
During 11 months, in the total volume of passenger traffic, 166.6 million people travelled by road transport (20.4% growth), 32.1 million people travelled by electric transport (10.7% growth), about 5 million by air transport (0.9% decline) and 525,000 people travelled by rail transport (5.9% growth).
In the first 11 months of 2024, there were 3,949 road accidents in Armenia, which is 5.3% less than the same indicator of 2023. Some 298 people died in road accidents (14.1% decrease), and 5,527 people were injured (6.5% decrease).
In January-November 2024, revenue from postal and courier activities totalled AMD 18,684.2 million, up 19.8% year-on-year. ($1 - AMD 398.09) -0-
