Draft law on crypto assets to be submitted to Armenian parliament in coming weeks - Deputy Chairman of Central Bank

YEREVAN, April 4. /ARКА/. The draft law on crypto assets, developed by the Central Bank of Armenia in the context of European norms, will be submitted to the Armenian parliament in the coming weeks, said Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Armen Nurbekyan.
"After the hearings in parliament, clarity will be provided on regulatory issues (of crypto assets - ed.). Investors will understand the rules," he said during a panel discussion at the Doing Digital 2025 forum.
Nurbekyan noted that against the backdrop of global work to regulate crypto assets around the world, the Central Bank of Armenia wants to start working with the community to establish clear rules of the game, "so that people who want to invest in this industry can do so and understand what awaits them."
"It is very important that the crypto sphere in Armenia is associated with the idea of creating something new. I believe there are many opportunities for this,” he added.
The Armenian government approved the law “On crypto assets” at a meeting on February 27, 2025
Earlier, the Central Bank stated that the bill is based on the European regulation of crypto asset markets (MiCA) and stipulates that crypto assets will not become a means of payment, and the market will be regulated.
On April 3, the Doing Digital 2025 forum was held in Yerevan under the title “Money of the Future: Economic Impact”. The information partners of the forum were ARKA-Telecom and Novosti-Armenia. -0-
