YEREVAN, May 30. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that if Armenia adopts EU standards, economic integration with the country within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will have to be curtailed.
According to Putin, dialogue with Armenia on possible EU accession should be based on the principles of complete openness and honesty.
"The Russian and Armenian peoples have been bound by ties of friendship and special relations for centuries... Everything that is good for Armenians is acceptable and good for Russia," the Russian president said at a press conference in Astana.
The Russian leader added that before making a decision on Yerevan's accession to the EU, it is necessary to "calculate everything, examine everything, and make a decision."
